the sacred vessel

Your trusted sanctuary to reclaim
inner authority and creative aliveness.

Therapy is not about fixing what’s broken.
It’s about returning to what has always been within you.

The Sacred Vessel: Therapy & Wellness provides trauma-informed, emotion-focused psychotherapy that honors the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. Integrating evidence-based approaches with astrology, tarot, and somatic practices, the practice guides clients toward deep healing, empowerment, and lasting transformation.

You are welcome here exactly as you are.

Where psychology and spiritually meet

The Sacred Vessel: Therapy & Wellness is a holistic psychotherapy practice founded by Dr. Andrea M. Kosten, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, located in Arlington Heights, Illinois. The practice offers a sacred, grounded environment where traditional psychotherapy meets spiritual and embodied healing. Clients are guided through evidence-based therapeutic work enriched by astrology, tarot, somatic awareness, and ritual —inviting transformation that supports lasting emotional growth, self-understanding, and authentic self-expression.

This work honors the whole person, recognizing that emotional pain does not exist only in the mind. Our experiences live in the body, shape our relationships, and influence how we understand ourselves and our place in the world. By approaching therapy in a way that tends to all aspects of the self, clients are supported in reconnecting with their emotional truth, developing self-compassion, and restoring a sense of inner balance and vitality.

The Sacred Vessel was created to fill a gap in the mental health field—a space where psychological healing and spiritual growth coexist.

Dr. Kosten’s approach recognizes that true healing involves the emotional, physical, and spiritual dimensions of the self. Rooted in Emotion-Focused Therapy, the work supports clients in identifying, expressing, and transforming core emotional experiences, while integrating intuitive tools that help them access inner wisdom and meaning.

The Sacred Vessel bridges the gap between traditional psychotherapy and soulful healing. Clients benefit from clinically grounded methods enriched by intuitive and ritual practices. The Sacred Vessel offers a rare blend of professionalism, depth, and spiritual authenticity.

Meet Andrea,

your therapist and guide

I’m a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, with my doctorate from The Illinois School of Professional Psychology. I believe emotions are not problems to be fixed, but meaningful signals that help us understand ourselves and our relationships. Much of what we experience in adulthood is shaped by early emotional patterns, by the ways we learned to adapt, protect ourselves, or silence parts of who we are in order to belong. The way I see it, therapy is a space to gently explore these patterns and reconnect with the parts of you that already hold wisdom and truth.

I work from a trauma-informed, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) lens with individuals and couples, creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel emotionally held. Our work often centers on clarifying emotional needs, developing self-soothing capacities, and strengthening the ability to express needs with confidence and authenticity, especially for those who were raised to believe their emotions were “too much.”

A central focus of my work is helping clients reconnect with their inner wisdom, often held in the inner child. When appropriate, and when clients are open, I also integrate holistic and experiential tools (including astrology and tarot), alongside evidence-based therapy as reflective supports for deeper exploration and meaning-making.

The Sacred Vessel: Therapy and Wellness is an extension of my therapeutic philosophy. Offering individual therapy, couples therapy, groups, workshops, and retreats, my intention is to create spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and reconnected to themselves and one another.
